Neither of us realized at first that Brian had left the gate into the pasture unlatched. Lance saw the opening first, and raced out.
I have too much experience with soft tissue injuries so I held my breath and hoped he didn't hurt himself. Thankfully he has a good recall (it helps that he's very food motivated), so before long he was back in the arena on safer footing.
Later in the day, I decided to get in a ride. We didn't do a lot, just some warm-up in the arena, a walk down to the end of the lane to get our mail, and then back to the arena for a bit of schooling. As always, it was good for my soul. :-)

LOL, they always notice something like that don't they!? We had to redo a section of non-electrified fencing this fall because Dandy was sneaking under it, at 21 still playing the escape artist! I would see him in the back yard all of a sudden. I whistle when I have their grain or treats so they almost always come to get that treat....
Maybe Dandy and Lance are related? ;-) Did you recognize that bridle? I think it's my favorite bridle of all time, and I realize now how fortuitous is was that if fits my big-headed boy perfectly. When I ordered his bling browbands, I learned he takes an unusually large 18" one!
