Wouldn't you know it? PT's owner sent me her photos yesterday evening!

(This was Lance's first trip through the water crossing. Never fear; we did it several more times at a nice, quiet WALK.)

Mary, I'd advise taking it in stages, praising any attempt without letting your horse evade the question, and coming back to it different days. The first time we visited PT, I kept the tire in front of Lance and kept asking for forward motion. Eventually he put a foot up briefly, then finally both front feet but still very briefly. I praised him profusely for being a brave boy each time a foot went up on the tire. Apparently that first experience was positive, because there was no hesitation when I asked him to step up on this visit.; June 25, 2014 at 7:44 PM
