The forecast said this morning would be relatively dry, so I turned the horses out for a romp and then tacked up Stella. She was a firecracker in turn-out, but our schooling session was so hunky-dory that the warm glow it created in me lasted for hours, as only a good ride can. Her walk was less hurried, her canter was less worried, her mouth foamed less copiously, and she sweated less profusely. I really do think the calming supplement is doing her some good!
To ride dressage is to dance with your horse, equal partners in the delicate and sometimes difficult work of creating harmony and beauty.

May be I should give our Coco some calming supplement because I fell off her when I was riding yesterday. I have not posted anything about it because I don't want my step daughter in law to know. She will be riding her this Saturday and I do not want her to spend three days thinking about it. I will tell her the morning of. It happened on a trail with water and mud on it. Coco has an aversion to water. She sidestepped onto the verge, her legs sank deep into it as it was muddy. She panicked jumped around and then unexpectedly leaped sideways.I fell over her shoulder into some soft mud. It is the first time I have fallen off a horse for over 20 years. I then had to find a place like a bank to get back on, it took a while. Tomorrow we go out on a ride again.
Oh dear, Marlane! SO glad you had a nice, soft mud landing. My experience with SmartCalm Ultra, from SmartPak, is still very new, but since SmartPak has a money-back guarantee if you don't think it helps, what do you have to lose?
I wonder if that is the same as the calcium magnesium supplement that I have in powder form. I know, it was one of the best falls I have ever had. I almost want to do it again.
I think the fall was giving me the message that I need to be more grounded. Writing the blog about my horse memoirs is all encompassing. I never knew. I sympathize with people who write their biographies.
Compare what you have to the details on SmartPak; it may be very similar!
I will look it up. The powder is cheaper, and all my horse will eat it mixed with grain.
I’m so glad you were able to get in good horse time to start off the year.
hmmm, I wonder if they have something like that for my cat, Aja. She share some similarities in personality with Stella. Of course, getting the cat to eat something on a regular schedule is pretty chancy. I’ll have to do a little research.
I read the ingredients in smart calm ultra. It has no calcium in it.
I hope the calming supplement continues to work for Stella :-)
